Three arrested in two home raids in Bojnurd

HRANA, July 14, 2021. –

Sho`leh Shahidi (شعله شهیدی) and her children Faaraan Sanaa`i (فاران ثنایی) and Shaayaan Sanaa`i (شایان ثنایی) were arrested when their home in Bojnurd was raided by security agents on July 13. The agents seized their religious books, laptops, and mobile phones. Another Bahai home in Bojnurd was also raided. There is no indication of which security agency made the arrests, where the family are being detained, or what the charges may be. In 2012, Houshmand Sana’i ( هوشمند ثنایی ) and Mrs Shahidi and their son Shaayaan were arrested and detained for a time by the Ministry of Intelligence in Bojnurd, and in June 2013 the family’s shop, selling health and beauty products, was shut by local body officials, on instructions from the Ministry of Intelligence.

Shop goods confiscated in Bojnurd

HRANA, May 11 ~

In recent days, security forces went to the shop of Houshmand Sana’i ( هوشمند ثنایی ) in Bojnurd and seized the entire stock of toiletries and beauty products. Several months ago the shop was closed by local body officials, on instructions from the Ministry of Intelligence. No reason was given. Last year, Mr. Sana’i, his wife Sho`eleh Shahidi ( شعله شهیدی ) and their son Shayan Sana’i ( شایان ثنایی ) were arrested and held for a time by the Ministry of Intelligence in Bojnurd.

Bahai business closed down in Bojnurd

HRANA, July 21

In the town of Bojnurd, in North Khurasan province (and just over the border from Eshkabad, where the first big Bahai House of Worship was built in 1908), the public order police have closed down a Bahai-operated business. The shop, selling health and beauty products, was run by Houshmand Sana’i ( هوشمند ثنایی ), was shut down for no apparent reason in late June. Mr. Sana’i and his wife, Sho`eleh Shahidi ( شعله شهیدی ) and their son Shayan ( شایان ثنایی ) were arrested by agents from the Ministry of Intelligence in Bojnurd in mid-April, and released on bail some time later.
