Bahai prisoners in Mashhad denied normal furlough

HRANA, February 21

For some months, Bahai prisoners in Mashhad have been denied the normal furlough, although the prison warden has approved it, because of opposition from the Ministry of Intelligence. Iranian law states that prisoners who have served more than half of their sentences may benefit from furlough. Rozita Vatheqi ( رزیتا واثقی ), Davur Nabilzadeh ( داور نبیل‌زاده ), Jalayer Vahdat (جلایر وحدت) and Sima Eshraqi (سیما اشراقی) who are serving 5-year sentences, and Vasanaz Tafazzoli (وساناز تفضلی) who is serving a 6-year sentence, all satisfy this requirement, but have not been granted leave because of opposition from the Ministry of Intelligence.
