Two families united in prison, briefly

Mrs. Faran Hesami ( فاران حسامی ) and Kamran Rahimiyan ( کامران رحیمیان ), a Bahai couple who were both serving 4-year prison sentences for their work as teachers at the Bahai Open University (BIHE), have been able to meet briefly in Evin Prison. The couple have a son, Artin, who is four years old.

Brother and sister Fu’ad and Leva Khanjani, who are both students excluded from university because of their Bahai beliefs, were able to meet briefly in prison on December 4. Fu’ad, who was a student in Isfahan until his explusion, is serving a four-year sentence in Raja’i Shahr prison. Leva is serving a two year sentence in the women’s wing at Evin prison. Their grandfather, Jamaluddin Khanjani ( جمال الدین خانجانی ) is one of the seven Yaran (national facilitators for the Bahai community in Iran) who are serving 20-year prison sentences.
