Faran Hesami begins her sentence

Mrs. Faran Hesami ( فاران حسامی ) was detained this morning to begin serving a four year sentence in connection with work for the Bahai Open University (BIHE). She had been asked to go to the prison in connection with legal matters relating to her husband, Kamran Rahimian ( کامران رحیمیان ), who is already serving a 4-year term in Raja’i Shahr prison for his work for the BIHE. When she got to the prison, she was arrested. This is surprising, since her sentence is still before the review court, and she has not been informed that it has been confirmed. She is charged with membership of the Bahai community and meeting and conspiring to harm national security. The couple have a son, Artin ( آرتین ) who is three years old.
