Anisa Dehqani Mahmudi ( انیسا دهقانی محمدی ), a Bahai from Isfahan who was arrested in Mashhad on June 1, as she was visiting Bahai friends there, has presented herself at Vakil Abad prison in Mashhad to begin serving her sentence. She has been free on bail. She was initially sentenced to 18 months in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime in the form of teaching the Bahai Faith, and participation in Bahai activities. The court of review for Khorasan province reduced this to six months.

For years some of us Muslims tried to expose the facts behind the abuse of people in the name of Allah and Islam and reveal the fact generally the 3 major religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are outdated and do not suffice the needs of today’s societies. On the other hand, religions are institutions and must be accepted as a package as institutions do not change. Therefore, substitutes must be presented to replace those religions either by a more up to date religion or secular social laws that treats everyone the same regardless of gender, ethnicity, or color of their skin. Current democratic social laws are alright however, policing them are not always possible. Spiritual laws when not abused provide that individual policing of the self which brings peace, security, and trust in a society all which are missing in todays current system in Iran and numerous other countries.
